The community is located at Kamalapuram, a mission station in the Rayalaseema region of Andhara Pradesh. The lambady people of the area are socially discriminated. They are mostly daily wage earners and small scale business people. In the early 70s there were no medical facilities at this place.

In 1973, Rev Fr. Joseph Bellani invited the sisters to serve at Kamalapuram with the consent of the Rt. Rev. Dr. P. C. Balasamy, the then Bishop of the diocese of Nellore. Mother Mary Francis, the then Superior General supported this project.

The sisters have been rendering their services at the mission station of Kamalapuram since 1973 through their medical services. Consequently, a hospital was constructed to attend to the health-care needs of the people. Holy Spirit Home for Children was also started for girl children and now there are about 150 girls staying and studying with the financial support provided by the Thomas Foundation, Netherlands, the diocese and other noble-hearted benefactors. It must be noted that the girl students who are accommodated in the boarding are sent for higher studies and professional courses, after their schooling, through the support of the sisters and other benefactors. The sisters also take tailoring classes to the poor women of the area. The sisters are also engaged in various other pastoral works of the parish.
